How to effectively germinate Cannabis seeds in the winter time.
The best way to get your cannabis seeds germinated in Winter is by using a seedling heat mat. To successfully germinate your cannabis seeds correctly you will need to have 3 important things;
Moisture, Warmth and Darkness. If you have these 3 key things and your medium is ready to go you're on the right path way to having a successful germination.
During winter season, it tends to be cold in your grow area and the easiest way to introduce warmth to your grow area is by using a seedling heat mat. Some of them have thermostat controllers as well so you can really dial down the most appropriate heat setting (the idea is to have the medium warm) the heat mat will transfer heat through to the medium and the warmth will help to accelerate the germination times of your precious Cannabis seeds.
You may also use a seedling heat mat on fresh Clones in the winter time to help them to establish roots faster. Go with the warmth!
Be mindful that while warmth does help to germinate cannabis seeds. Too much warmth or heat can actually also kill your seedlings. So find the right temperature balance and stick with it.
During other seasons the seedling heat mat may not be necessary for cannabis seedlings to germinate due to ambient temperatures being sufficient so your mileage may vary depending on where you live.
Also ensure that your ventilation is adequate because warm and damp areas may also introduce damping off disease to your young cannabis seedlings which can also be harmful or may end up killing them.
